When beginning a campaign, choos e (or roll or) a Terrain, Vegetation and Water type or the hex containing the Town/city the game will start rom. This will dictate movement speeds, nature o certain Point o Interest details and what manner o Wandering Monsters may be encountered. The frst step when entering a blank hex is to deter mine the Ter rain be ing trav ersed. o the Core Rules or movement speeds. It can be quite enjoyable to have each player play 2 characters to start out so i/when one dies they can continue playing uninterrupted. But, i you have the stomach to play it out you will fnd the pay-o  comes in chara cter and stor y develop ment as surviv ors start to really bui ld a history. It should be mentioned that i you play this by strictly adhering to these procedures and not udging any random monsters, you can expect to have many a gratuitous (albeit sometimes hilarious) character deaths, especiall y at lower levels. Armed with the random tables within this supplement, one will fnd this style o play lends itsel well to solo play as well (one person alone playing as the GM as well as the players).
